Every 2 weeks. Sometimes more frequently.
That was how often I used to change my exercise programmes or diet or have a 'restart' because I had strayed from my diet.
I used to subscribe to mens health when I was younger and it was kind of good kind of bad.
Good because it was a good magazine, well put together and had some great inspiration.
Bad because it seemed to promote a different diet or different workout every couple of weeks.
It meant I never really stuck to any one thing and that meant I missed out on the most important component of success.
A great saying that does the rounds every now and again is 'the best diet is the one you can follow for the rest of your life'.
And it's true.
The best exercise and healthy eating programme to follow is the one that you can consistently follow.
It may not be the most optimal for getting results or improving your health but it if gets you moving towards your goal then great.
I know people who have done the opposite to what I would advocate for them to achieve their goals but they have still got there.
Not as quick as they would if they had followed my advice and not with the same body composition and improvement in their overall health but they have still got to a point where they are happy.
So if you are finally fed up with being overweight, sluggish and feeling like crap then make sure whatever you start doing you can stick to it.
Don't force yourself to start exercising every day or you will burn out. Don't feel you have to suddenly start eating like a super model because it just isn't going to happen.
Set yourself some realistic boundaries and get a nice balanced exercise programme and just stick with it. Not for 2 weeks but for 2 months. And then another month. And another. And so on until you get where you want to be.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." ~ Aristotle
